The basque capital of San Sebastian lies on the Bay of Biscay in the north of Spain. It stands as a candidate to be the European City of Culture in 2016.
In the past, this noble coastal city was the summer resort of the Spanish royal family. It is characterised by elegant streets, green boulevards and large squares adorned by architectural masterpieces. One of its most beautiful buildings is the “Basilica de Santa Maria del Coro” in the historic centre. San Sebastian is mostly renowned to be the capital of the fine basque gastronomy. This city has more than 100 cooking clubs, where people get together to experiment with new recipes. Furthermore, San Sebastián is home to worldwide famous chefs, who run now luxury restaurants in the city centre.
In our LISA! Language school we offer a combination of Spanish and cooking courses, as well as surf lessons. In the picturesque fishing harbour at the  foot of the “Monte Urgull”, you may have the chance to meet master chefs like Juan Mari Arzak buying some fresh seafood. In the numerous bars of the city you can taste “Sidra” (a typical apple wine) and delicious “Pinchos”. The city is animated by many festivals such as the “Jazzaldia” or the “Tamborrada” throughout the year.
